2024 Mustang Mach-E: Even More of a Good Thing
As an owner of a 2022 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition, I was excited to see changes were coming for the new model year. And let me tell you, the 2024 Mach-E does not disappoint! Ford has taken everything we love about our electric pony and cranked it up to 11.
Performance Boost and GT changes
First off, let’s talk about the performance upgrade. The 2024 Mach-E GT Performance Edition can now go from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.3 seconds. It might seem like a minor improvement, but that puts it ahead of the Tesla Model Y Performance and even the Porsche Macan 4 Electric. The quarter mile times have also improved and it can now do that in 11.8 seconds. The extra 100 lb. ft. of torque from the new in-house eMotor makes a massive difference, and it’s a thrill to experience.
Ford has also standardized some of the best performance features across the Mach-E GT lineup, including those awesome Ford Performance front seats, MagneRide® Damping System, and Brembo™ front brake calipers. These were previously only available on the Performance Edition, so it’s great to see them being offered on all GT models.
The new rear motor also means other trims benefit from performance improvements. For example, the Premium AWD Extended Range went from 4.8 seconds 0-60 down to 4.1 seconds!
Trim | 0-60 mph | Quarter Mile |
Base | 5.8 seconds | 14.3 seconds |
Premium | 5.5 seconds | 14.0 seconds |
GT | 3.3 seconds | 11.8 seconds |
Range and Charging Upgrades
Range anxiety? What’s that? The 2024 Mach-E also offers range improvements, with up to 320 miles of EPA-estimated range on a single charge for the RWD Extended Range versions. That makes longer road trips even better by stretching out the range just a bit more.
Trim | 2024 model year EPA-estimated range | Improvement from initial release |
Mustang Mach-E Select, Standard Range, RWD | 250 | + 20 |
Mustang Mach-E Premium, Extended Range, RWD | 320 | + 20 |
Mustang Mach-E GT | 280 | + 10 |
Mustang Mach-E Rally | 265 | N/A |
Speaking of charging, Ford has also improved the DC fast charging speeds. You can now charge your Mach-E from 10-80% in just 36 minutes on Extended Range trims, which is a nice improvement over previous models. With the recent addition of access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers through the BlueOval™ Charge Network, you’ll have even more options for keeping your Mach-E juiced up on the go.
Mustang Mach-E Rally: Unleash Your Inner Adventurer
But the most exciting addition to the 2024 Mach-E lineup has to be the Mustang Mach-E Rally. This rally-inspired variant is perfect for those of us who want to take our electric Mustangs off the beaten path. With a raised suspension, rally-tuned tires, and a unique appearance package, the Mach-E Rally is ready for some serious off-road adventures.
I was lucky enough to try out the Mustang Mach-E Rally at the famous DirtFish Rally School this past week. We can’t give you driving impressions until Thursday, so check back then for more all the dirt (pun intended)!
Conclusion
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E is a testament to Ford’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle performance. With its improved acceleration, range, charging speeds, and the addition of the adventurous Mach-E Rally, this is one electric SUV that continues to turn heads and put a smile on your face
