Dash Cams
We’ve been using the VIOFO A139 Dash Cam for a couple years and we really like it. We’ve even used the footage in our vlogs before. Recently we’ve been testing the upgraded version, the VIOFO 4K A139 Pro and it has been excellent!

You’ll often hear/see Patrick refer to an OBD II plug that lets him utilize the Car Scanner app to access some nitty gritty info through Car Scanner. It has been SO useful!

We love having a screen protector on the Mach-E multimedia display, not because it needs protection, but because it can help with fingerprints. They’re also available for Google Pixel Phones and Samsung.
We like to combine this with quick release adaptors for GoPro so it’s super easy to attach and remove any device from any mount. Unfortunately these are unavailable at the moment but we will update this as soon as they reappear.
Speaking of GoPro, we like to use GoPro’s for both our in-car footage and our front-facing driving footage because of the excellent stabilization. We record them both at the same time and overlap and synchronize the footage later in Adobe Premiere Pro.

For the rest of our filming, we both use the iPhone 14 Pro Max because of its ability to get excellent low-light footage and contrast to dark and light (both of which happens often while driving) and because they have great thermal management and haven’t ever overheated while filming.
For audio, we love the DJI Wireless Mics. They can be connected to any camera and they come with Lightning plug and USB C to connect to your phone too. The included case provides up to 15 hours of extra battery life too.

Smart Home
We love smart home integrations so we won’t list everything that we like but just a few absolute gems. The first we have to mention is the Nest Thermostat. We love ours and it makes energy and temperature management SO easy.

Speaking of energy management, the Emporia Smart Plugs are an essential in our home. They allow you to control your plugged in devices from your phone or smart home assistant and to see how much energy each device is using. For example, we realized that the TV was burning quite a bit of energy just from being OFF and plugged in, so we plugged it into a smart plug and now we actually turn on the outlet to turn on the TV.
